In the summer of 2000, as Mugwump prepared to go to Oregon for the annual US Jew's Harp Festival with his girlfriend, Samone, GOD was asked to play their song "Delivery Boy" for a Japanese TV show called "Soullook: Seize The Night." The program was to showcase three local NYC bands playing in the trendy dance club Cheetah and the "best" group would be awarded $500. While playing on Japanese TV for the impressive winning sum of $500 seemed like just the big break GOD was waiting for, it wasn't enough of a break to warrant Mug changing his travel plans to pluck on jew's harps in the plains of Idaho, so Headless Jesus, at this point a former drummer to the group, was asked to fill in on lead guitar and he gladly accepted. The only other obstacle in doing the show was to "clean up" the more profane lyrics and to cut the normally six-and-a-half minute epic down to under three minutes. GOD's bold diaper-strapping performance certainly excited and confused both the crowd and the hosts that evening. But it was not enough to sway the grating hosts, who ultimately deny the group the coveted money prize.
